Pioneer Electric Cancels 2022 Youth Tour Program

Due to the current health concerns facing our country, Pioneer Electric has made the decision to withdraw our participation in this year’s Youth Tour program.

This decision has been made with a heavy heart, however, the health and safety of our members, and future members, remains our utmost priority. Those with questions regarding the cancellation of this year’s trips may reach out to Pioneer Electric by calling 620-356-1211. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Pioneer Electric Youth Tour Applications Now Open

The application for the 2022 Youth Tour is now open to local sophomores and juniors residing in Pioneer Electric’s service territory. Students will have the opportunity to win one of two all-expense-paid trips offered through the Cooperative. The Government in Action Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. (June 16-23, 2022) and Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp (CYLC) (July 15-21, 2022) kick off the upcoming summer.

“These trips provide an experience that is completely unique,” said Alyssa Hammond, program coordinator and communications specialist for Pioneer Electric. “No matter which trip students are selected for, they will walk away from these trips with skills, connections and memories that will last a lifetime.”

In addition to witnessing the impact that cooperatives have on their lives, students will have the opportunity to take part in experiences like hiking through the mountains of Colorado, indoor skydiving (CYLC), touring the National Mall and meeting with local and state representatives (Government In Action).

Students interested in applying for Youth Tour must complete the required application and Student in Good Standing form. Additional details regarding the trips and student qualifications are also available here. Complete applications for the 2022 Youth Tour must be submitted to Pioneer Electric no later than October 7 at 5 p.m. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Questions regarding the 2022 trips or applications may be directed to Alyssa Hammond (ahammond@pioneerelectric.coop).

“To be able to meet in person is an exciting thing,” said Anita Wendt, vice president of energy services.

Registration for the event will being at 4:30 p.m. in the South Room of the Grant County Civic Center and conclude upon the start of the meeting.

Members who are unable to attend the Annual Meeting in person have the opportunity to cast their ballot via mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots and instructions regarding how to cast a successful ballot are included in this year’s Annual Meeting Notice. Notices will be mailed to members in August.

“It’s important that all members have a say in their cooperative representation,” said Wendt. “With the option to cast their vote by mail-in ballot, Members who are unable to make the annual meeting still have the option of having their voice heard on important ballot matters.”
