PIONEER ELECTRIC H.U.G.S. GRANT FUNDS BATTING CAGES

The Pioneer Electric Helping Us Give to Society (H.U.G.S.) team presented the Stanton County Recreation with a $3,000 grant for new batting cages on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The department says it has seen growing interest in its baseball program, prompting the need for batting cages.

“Adding batting cages for our program will be a huge benefit to our community,” said Toni Floyd, president of the Staton County Recreation. “Our youth and adult programs will both be able to utilize the cages.”

The grant funds will be used to purchase three new batting cages at Battin Park in Johnson. Turf will also be purchased to protect the surface and give pitchers a sturdy area to practice.

“We’re excited to see how the addition of these batting cages will help Stanton County’s program grow,” said Ruby Terrazas, H.U.G.S. team member.

H.U.G.S. grants are reserved for programs and projects that benefit residents and communities within Pioneer Electric’s service territory. Additional information about H.U.G.S. can be found here.
