On September 11th, members of Pioneer Electric voted to elect David C. Light (Dist. 5), James N. Bell (Dist. 6), and Charles E. Milburn (Dist. 9) to the Pioneer Electric Board of Trustees. These individuals, along with the other six board members, comprise the governing body of Pioneer Electric, which oversees making critical decisions regarding the cooperative’s operations and determining the best ways to continue providing members with safe and reliable power.
Members also voted to approve the proposed bylaw changes laid out by the board of trustees. These changes will consider various factors the board should consider when redistricting in response to an ever-changing membership and to keep board representation balanced. Additional approved changes clarify that any eligible member may only petition and be placed on the ballot for election in one district in any year.
“We are constantly evaluating how we can continue to serve our members,” said Pioneer Electric board president Mike Brewer. “We are thankful for a membership that trusts us to make important decisions on their behalf. We want to ensure that every decision we make has a positive impact on our members and ultimately benefits our service territory.”
194 members attended the annual meeting. Those in attendance received a free catered meal, a bamboo cutting board attendance gift, and many door prize giveaways.
“The members really do show up and participate in our annual meeting,” stated Lindsay Campbell, Pioneer Electric CEO. “I know that it is an event many of our members look forward to each year, as do we. We value the time it allows us to speak with and touch base with our members.”
