Powering Members, Family and Agriculture
Meet Lori Deyoe, District 1 Board of Trustees Representative
She helps feed America, ensures her family’s needs are met, serves her community, and helps guide decisions to help keep the power flowing — these roles shape LORI DEYOE.
Elected by members to Pioneer Electric’s Board of Trustees in 2023, Deyoe represents District 1, an area comprised of portions of Hamilton, Stanton, Kearny and Finney counties. Since assuming the role of trustee, Deyoe has worked to ensure that Pioneer Electric’s members are powered. She understands the vital role that electricity plays in the everyday life of rural America.
“Ensuring that southwest Kansas has access to safe and reliable energy is vital to our success,” says Deyoe. “I hope each member we serve feels and sees how Pioneer Electric’s Board and employees lay their best on the line every day.”
Deyoe believes that electricity is a foundation of the future and that it is essential for Pioneer Electric to be positioned to lead members as things change and progress.
“As we are in board meetings, I’m thinking about how the co-op can best serve our members,” says Deyoe. “My background is in agriculture; I know how important electrical service is to those in that industry, which shapes the questions I ask and how I approach things. Our mission statement signals that we are not just here to keep the lights on but to be able to sustain for the people we serve.”
Working as part of a team, Deyoe believes, is how the best decisions for members can be made.
“As board members, we each bring a unique perspective to help meet a common goal: ensuring our members are powered by safe, reliable energy,” says Deyoe. “I’m also honored to be the first woman to serve on the board. But, at the end of the day, it’s about working as a team to make the best decisions that we can to keep the lights on.”
When she is not helping power Pioneer Electric’s members, Deyoe spends time reading and following her children, Baylor, 19, and Teagan, 17, around the United States with her husband, Matt, to show cattle.
“I am incredibly thankful to the membership for electing me and allowing me to serve in this role,” says Deyoe. “It is an honor to serve my community in this capacity.
